A few things
Firstly, you all need to read this article from The Hairpin. I'm not 25 anymore (my creaky knees will verify this - oy), but it's still very true and will help you have a lovely evening.
Secondly, I'm watching Project Runway this season even though I didn't think I would. As I don't have cable, I'll be behind a bit since I need to watch it on my ever-so-slow internet. Back before I had WTS I had my livejournal and I liked to do Project Runway recaps on there. I'll be bringing the "magic" of my Project Rundowns over here. There will always be spoilers, so take that into consideration when reading. A few things you need to know:
1. I still have not gotten over Angela's fleurchons.
2. I freaking love Michael Kors and refer to him as "Our Little Orange Angel."
3. Tim Gunn and Nina Garcia are only ever referred to by their full names: The Silver Fox Tim Gunn (TSFTG for short) and NinaGarciaFashionDirectorForMarieClaireMagazine.
4. The guest judge is always "confused" about a garment. It happens almost every episode. I love that. It's like they get a script or something.
5. My favorite contestant ever was Chris March. I love you, Chris March.
Thirdly, let's all raise our glass for the best dancer at St. Bernadette's with the worst reputation. RIP, Cha Cha DiGregorio.
We are social but we are not social media. We are social but we cannot survive on content alone. Sometimes being passive consumers of content works against us. If you don’t do it today you’ll put if off and then it will be awkward when you decide you really, really want to email this person. So do it today. Or don’t do it. Or maybe do it tomorrow, but if you don’t do it today you definitely won’t do it tomorrow. Again, make a list. Wash your face.
There is no IRL. This is everything.

150!
This is my 150th post on Way Too Shay! Party! Confetti! Reflection.
My friend Mix challenged me to start this blog last fall, during a night at our local watering hole. I'm excellent at starting things I don't finish, dreaming up plans that are never realized, and making promises I don't keep. For the record, I am also awesome at easing difficult situations with humor, recalling minute details from the Harry Potter books, and powering motor boats simply by the power of my laughter. The challenge Mix laid down wasn't so much starting a blog but sticking to it. And with a few minor hiccups during particularly hectic times, I've been doing pretty well with that. I am proud that I made it to 150 posts and really happy that all of you are here reading this jibberjabber.
I've benefitted from writing this thing, too! We talk about fashion so much here that I have actually been turning a critical eye to my own style and taking a harder look at the way I'm putting myself out there to the world. This coincided nicely with being single for the first time in 6 years and wanting to, you know, put my best foot forward. I've weeded my closet so much in the past three months that I basically just wear the same 6 dresses over and over again to work. I've starting thinking more critically about footwear, the length of the hem on my jeans, where skirts fall on my legs, etc. It may be silly but writing a stupid blog has made me a more put-together-looking person. Most days.
Because, you know, sometimes you just wear your house dress all day and make casseroles. That's how it goes.
In terms of others, I cannot tell you the pride I felt this weekend when I complimented one friend on her really cool necklace (it was a chain with tiny silver hammer and wrench pendants - adorable) and she said that she was inspired to get a necklace from reading WTS. Thanks! I'm glad we are all getting on the necklace train! I can't believe that I'd influence anyone at all ever but it was really nice to hear.
Later this week we'll begin The Rules II, which is going to be a trip. And there are plans in the works for a little treat later in the month. I don't want to tell you what it is in case I don't do it... but we're going to do it. And it's going to be a lot of fun.
Thank you for reading Way Too Shay! To show my thanks, I will now sear your eyes with some of the worst red carpet fashions we saw this year. ENJOY.

Oh man, even though HBC looks cray cray I can't help but love her.

Stay tuned
My dear 6 readers, it is crunch time at my day career so I won't be able to post for a couple of days. I know, I know, it's very sad.

Stay tuned. I will be back later in the week.

UGH.
My space bar was broken most of the day, my dear 6 readers, and I just didn't have the patience to write a post withallofthewordslookinglikethis and then go back and fix it. I'M ONLY HUMAN WITH THE PATIENCE OF A GNAT!
Anyway, to make it up to you we're doing The Rules tomorrow and guess what? It's the last five OG Rules! Don't worry, there is a whole other book after that, which will probably get us through the summer. But still, as Boyz II Men once said, it's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
Oh, and if you are still on the Neville Longbottom Is A Stud Now kick, you can thank Ms. Mix for this hilarious article- Neville Longbottom: WILF. (You can suss out what WILF means.) Let me just say I had to stuff my fist in my mouth to keep from belly laughing in my very quiet office. ENJOY!

Announcement
You guys, I have decided to take on a project. I hear you snarking, "What? Updating your blog?" Har har, comedians. You know that next week is going to be FULL ON OSCAR FASHION MADNESS (FOOFM), but after that, what? I mean, I'll still give you the food and pop culture and sex posts you...haven't seen in weeks. But I feel like I need something new, something fun, something insane.
And so, I am pleased to announce that after we get through FOOFM, I will be reading and blogging my way through this book:

Did you catch that? It's The Rules and The Rules II all in one book! For the low, low price of losing your mind.
As a lifelong feminist and mostly rational person, I have loathed the existence of this book for years - 15 years to be exact. Holy crap, I just realized that this book has been present in suburban white girl popular culture for half my life. That is horrifying. I remember it coming out when I was in high school and I very quickly and loudly denounced it, proclaiming to anyone who would listen that it was "complete bullshit." I was 15, I knew things. Obvs.
But here's the secret (oooh, maybe I should do The Secret next): I have never actually read The Rules and I don't really know what all is in there. I have a cursory knowledge of the general gist - play hard to get. And that little fact is enough for me to know that I will be angry with this book. Me being angry with a book = comedy gold for you, dear 5 readers.
So get ready! I am going to blog The Rules. After FOOFM, of course. I wouldn't deprive you.
